Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

With large tonsils that cause snoring, breathing problems or trouble swallowing, the procedure can ease breathing and other problems. The surgeon removes part of the tonsils, and recovery is often quicker than with full removal.

The procedure is usually done once, but you may need a check-up afterwards. The surgeon decides whether you need more treatment.

  1. The doctor assesses whether the procedure suits you.
  2. You have a local or general anaesthetic.
  3. Most people go home the same day.
